In any business in Malaysia,  the company secretary plays an important role to ensure that the company comply with the provisions of relevant legislation. The roles and responsibilities of a Company Secretary in Malaysia are outlined in the Secretary Association, which is governed and regulated by the Company Commission of Malaysia.

According to Companies Act of 2016, every company must appoint at least one secretary. Under this legislation, it also stated that the office of a company secretary is not to remain vacant for a period of more than thirty days at any time.
